Finally a message board is available on which students or teachers can post questions, seek partners for projects or suggest ideas or other links which are relevant to citizenship. To ensure that the website accurately meets the needs of pupils and teachers the authors are testing the contents in a pilot study involving secondary schools in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. The pilot involves continuous evaluation and adjustments of the materials. It will end in March 2001 and the lessons learnt will ensure that the website will become a valuable resource for schools when citizenship becomes part of the curriculum from September 2002. The project is managed by a registered charity - People United Against Crime. Funding support is provided by Yorkshire Electricity and Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council through the Single Regeneration Budget. |
